Set of 2 Stainless Steel and Cedar Frame, Herb Rubbing Screens, medium and coarse mesh

MADE IN AMERICA by Strictly Medicinal and the shipping is free-of-charge to anywhere in the continental USA.
Set of 2  Herb Rubbing Screens, 1 medium and 1 coarse mesh, specifically designed to help remove sticks from dried culinary herbs, to produce a fine product for dried herb sales and/or cooking.  The large 18-inch square size allows for a vigorous and unimpeded sweep of the arm while hand-grinding the field-run herb through the screens  This improves efficiency when working with any size pile of dried herb from small quantities up to 500 g at a time, depending on fluffiness.  These screens also work very well to reduce dried medicinal herbs to the proper grind for tincturing (which will improve alcohol coverage, lack of which is a stumbling block for home medicine makers).  These screens can also be used for separating seeds, both large and small, from chaff, in seed cleaning.  This is a very sturdy frame made of Port Orford cedar, measuring 18 inches square and 3.5 inches tall. The screen used is very sturdy, stainless steel mesh, specifically 12 mesh (12 strands per inch) as the medium, and 6 strands per inch, as the coarse.  The heaviest wire-weights have been chosen in order to provide long-term service.  Weight–10 lbs.

    Perfect for intended use

These are well made and the perfect size. I opened them and was surprised how big they are but I had three bunches of lemon balm dried and ready to screen. The screens turned out to be exactly right for the lengths of lemon balm that I’d cut.

    Smell strongly of cedar.

    wonderful high quality product

Fantastic sturdy frames, I love smooth edges and solid construction. Herbs rubbed through achieve professional quality look. Sipping on freshly rubbed sage leaves tea as typing this. This will help with making salves as finished rubbed product is very fine quality. And they double as drying screens for small batches of herbs. So glad I have invested in this high quality product!

    Question

    Nance

In your video using the two screens you refer to them as medium and fine. In the product description you use the words coarse and medium. I suppose those terms are relative, but don’t want to purchase and then realize that they are too big. I just want to do what you are doing in the video. Thanks.

Hi Nance, good eye! Sorry for any confusion. The terms are relative, the screens are the same in the video and in our online store. r

    Question

    EDNA WILLIAMS

I would love to get the screens sent soon. I wonder about the shipping to Connecticut. I am wondering if the 8 piece set essentially includes the same size screens as the 2 screen set. I want to be able to work with both my freshly dried herbs and with seeds; right now I do it all by hand and it is a bit tedious…..thanks

      Hi Edna,
We do give fast turnaround on seed screen orders, yet one would have to factor in shipping via UPS G which might take as long as 11 days. The 2 screen set is not the same as the seed cleaning screens. The 2 screen set gives much more surface area (the screens are bigger and deeper). The mesh is similarly sized to a #2 and a #6.

      Hi Lauren,
I do think they would be quite helpful. I would use them myself. The large surface area is nice for seed cleaning, although the mesh size doesn’t give you the same array of options as with our actual set of 8 seed cleaning screens. Regardless of screen size, one ends up wind-winnowing to finish amaranth. Make sure to dry it off well after purifying, they tend to mold in storage unless perfectly dry.

I thinkthis would be a good screen to divest the seed of chaff. I think you might have to go a bit larger to let the seed fall through. experiment!

    My new favorite thing.

These screens are AWESOME. I shouldn’t have been suprised because everything that I have ordered from this company has been quality stuff but these screens were beautifully build. I have no doubt that they will become work horses around my farm and they are built to stand up to that. I have no doubt that I will get many years use from them. As for saving time…I’m writing this and not garbling because I have time to spare. They’re easy to use for both my garbling and seed cleaning chores.I’m happy to own them. Bravo, Strictly Medicinal Seeds!

Hi, would these screens help with harvesting Vitex agnus-castus berries? Separating them from the chaff is such a chore! 🙂

Yes, I would pass these through a # 2 screen and then rub on a # 6 screen to finish. r

Would be helpful if you could provide a demonstration of the best practices movement involved in using the screens. It might promote sales if people felt confident in knowing how to use them.
