Vining annual.  Not frost hardy.  Native to Peru, Bolivia, Columbia and Brazil.  “Purple Emperor” is a purple-flowered cultivar that worked well for us in our growout.  The buds are pungent and edible, and this plant is a ladybug attractor.  Direct-seed in spring or summer directly in the garden or grow in containers.  You can plant nasturtium seeds up to 4 inches deep (that’s really deep) which will give them a stronger foundation and also provide more frost resistance.
