(Virginia mountain mint)  Herbaceous perennial native to N Central and E US. This tough, bushy plant is an excellent choice for the herb garden, being compact, long-lived, delightfully aromatic and a great butterfly attractor. Voted best new tea plant in our recent experience, it is actually the closest thing to a true mint that is native to the US.   Source of menthone.  Plant does well in standard garden culture spaced 2 feet apart.
