Evergreen mounding perennial originally from a wild population in South Africa. The unique leaf form and robust growth make this a desired cultivar for collectors. This plant is also a non-grass source of oil of lemon grass (Citronella) and may be expected to do the same things that essential oil of citronella does. Grows to 2 feet tall.

Question about the citronella plant. I live north of Houston TX and I wanted to plant them in my front yard. I k ow it says in the description to bring in in the winter. Could they survive outside if I covered them up?

Hi Andrew, Those directions are for the majority of us living in the temperate USA. You’re in a zone 9a, the plant will probably overwinter fine for you. Pelargonium are native to South Africa, why not South USA? r
