Geranium, Scented “Citronella,” (Pelargonium citronellum) plant, organic
$7.50 – $19.95
Family: Geranium (Geraniaceae)
Hardy to Zone 8 to 12, otherwise grown as a summer annual or potted plant, brought in for the winter
Evergreen mounding perennial originally from a wild population in South Africa. Purportedly mosquito-repellant, it definitely does have the aroma of the essential oil of the same name. Grows to 2 feet tall.
Potted plant, Certified Organically Grown

This is lemon balm – when I think of true citronella I think of mosquito bane, this is a member of the mint family. Good plant, just not as advertised to a novice gardener. I would still by seeds from this company again. I’ve had great luck with them

This is not lemon balm. Lemon balm is Melissa officinalis. This is a scented geranium. Lemon balm is it’s varietal name.

Question
Maureen –
I’m trying to find some citronella geranium seeds and am not having much luck. Do you know where I could find them?

Hi Maureen,
Its because there really is no such thing–scented geraniums don’t breed true from seed. Feel free to avail yourself of our plants, which are nice, and make cuttings to increase.
