Geranium, Scented “Peppermint” (Pelargonium tomentosum) potted plant, organic
Family: Geranium (Geraniaceae)
Hardy to Zone 8 to 12, otherwise grown as a summer annual or potted plant, brought in for the winter
Evergreen mounding perennial native to South Africa. Softly downy leaves, low-growing habit, giving rise to sprays of edible and aromatic white flowers. The leaves are dark green, smelling deliciously of peppermint–so much so that smellers with eyes closed may readily be fooled. Sometimes I think this plant smells more like peppermint than peppermint itself! Easy in potted culture, outdoors on the patio in the summer, or in frost-free beds or in the rockery. As an indoor plant, gratifyingly green in the light of a window, requiring very little care in terms of primping or watering–a solid herbal houseplant.
Potted plant, Certified Organically Grown
