Herbaceous perennial native to and distributed throughout the temperate zones of planet Earth. This is a wild plant that prospers in lush places, like abandoned fields and home yards. Flowers yellow to 8 inches tall. Root is used as a coffee substitute, also juiced or tinctured, fresh or dry. The bitter greens are enjoyed as a salad or steamed vegetable, also used in herbal medicine for tea or tincture. Traditional usage (TWM): diuretic, liver support, spring tonic. Plant prefers part shade to full sun and richly composted soil, frequent watering. Space 1 foot apart or dot around on the landscape.

Hi Susan, This depends on the fertility of the ground, mowing practices, water and sun availability, etc. they can be miniature in rock, up to your knees in rich soil. Page 221 of “Growing Plant Medicine Vol 1,” “Flowers yellow to 10 inches.” richo
