Family:  Asphodel (Asphodelacea)

Hardy to Zones 8 to 12,  but normally grown as a potted plant, indoors or on the summer patio

(Twerkleur Aloe) Perennial succulent native to the western cape of South Africa.  Consisting of robust rosettes of tapered, sword-like leaves, the plant gives rise to multiple upright racemes crowned by large red inflorescences. The plant makes a purplish-red dye for woolens.  Traditional usage (South African muti): constipation, venereal disease.  Space plants at least 3 feet apart.
