(Virginian Witch Hazel) Perennial shrub or small tree to 20 feet tall. Native to the eastern states. The plant flowers in the winter, yellow-orange frills, when nothing else much is flowering, and in the spring unfurls its broad, papery green leaves. Traditional usage (TWM): astringent. A superior choice for landscaping, these will become multi-stemmed. Plant prefers a moist site in the part sun to shade. These are very nicely developed trees. Plant at least 15 feet apart,
