Turmeric (Curcuma longa) plant in a 9-inch pot, organic

$28.00

Family:  Ginger (Zingiberacea)

Protect from frost.

Perennial tuberous plant to 2 feet tall, native to tropical Asia.  Photo shows a potted turmeric plant.  It should be noted that this photo is of a gallon pot but our plants are sold in our standard 4-inch pots.  Traditional use:  Culinary spice and antiinflammatory.  Plant prefers tropical shade conditions, minimum temperature 55 degrees F, with a fast-draining soil.  Turmeric does well as a potted plant and if potted,  prefers greenhouse culture.  Space plants at least 1 foot apart.

I’m so grateful for all that you do. Is it alright if I ask if there will be potted turmeric this year? I am so happy you offer a waitlist! I have not had much success yet with growing turmeric from a store root, but I will keep learning as I go. Have a wonderful day!

hello. i too am interested in getting a turmeric plant, when available. & wondering what size of pot it will need to be kept in? will a gallon pot prove large enough to accommodate it? i live in portland, oregon & plan to keep out of doors in warmer months & indoors in bright window the rest of year. thank you for all the magic that you spark !!!
