Tobacco, Walker’s (Nicotiana tabacum), packet of 100 seeds, organic

$3.95

Family:  Nightshade (Solanacea)

Annual (80 days to maturity)

(Walker’s Broadleaf) Annual.  Heirloom Virginia smoking tobacco with medium-sized leaves that crowd closely on the stalk. I think the “broadleaf” adage is a bit of a misnomer and am not too enthusiastic about its use, it gives the wrong impression.  The leaves of Walker’s are narrower than standard Virginia Smoking Tobacco.  Nonetheless, I found these to be an easy grow, and appreciate that they may be better sized for small gardens, attaining their plume of showy pink flowers no higher than 5 feet above the compact rosette of leaves.  This variety is used for making cigars and cigarettes.  The taste is mild.  The leaves are light green, smooth, tend to ripen evenly, and cure to a mellow gold.

100 seeds per packet, certified organically grown
