(Field Thyme, Lemon Thyme) Evergreen creeping perennial native to temperate Europe, flowering mauve to 10 inches tall. Strongly-scented, citrusy groundcover preferring sandy soil or rockery in full sun. Extended flowering period from midsummer to frost, providing bees with nectar and providing herbalists with medicine and spice. Traditional uses (TWM): carminative, antioxidant, throat infection to general malaise, condiment spice and preservative. Plant prefers sun and the perfect drainage afforded by rockery, gravel or sand. Space plants 1 to 2 feet apart. They will spread and interlock.
