Shiso, Red (Perilla frutescens) potted plant, organic

Greetings!  Plants are available to the US only.  Potted plants, trees and succulents listed on this website may be ordered now, and will begin shipping September 5th.  If you have a preferred ship date, tell us right away! Our plant shipping seasons are:  March 15 through July 31, then again Sep 5 through Thanksgiving.  Order early to assure availability.

Family: Mint (Lamiaceae)

Annual.  60 days to harvest

Native to India.  The herb accompanies sushi, also a standard type for making Umeboshi. There are several cultivars, and I have trouble differentiating between red and purple–the red has purple, the purple has red. The photos posted are of the actual plants and should take precedence over my attempts to describe in words.  Traditional use (Japanese and TCM) Seafood poisoning, tonic to gastric mucosa, flavoring and coloring agent in cookery.  Plant prefers partial shade to full sun, rich soil and regular watering.  Space plants about 2 feet apart.   Grows to 3 feet tall.

Potted plant, Certified Organically Grown
