Sculpit (Silene inflata) packet of 50 seeds, Organic

$2.45

Family:  Pink (Caryophyllaceae)

Generally considered to be a self-seeding annual, these will nonetheless perennialize in Zones 7 and up.  60 days to harvest, 100 days to flower.

(Stridolo) An Italian heirloom, with toothsome, lance-shaped leaves giving rise to sprays of delightful, inflated flowers to a height of 18 inches.  The inflated calyx is pink to green, and the flowers are purely white.  The fresh leaves are used to flavor risotto, omelettes and sauces.  The flavor is mild and may be likened to tarragon.  This plant is extremely easy to grow from seed.  Sow in greenhouse in early spring and work up in pots, or sow directly in the garden bed in spring to early summer.  Given the unobtrusive nature of Sculpit, it works very well to companion with other species such as Echinacea, violets, etc.  Harvest the leaves with scissors–they will soon regrow for another pick!  Space plants 1 foot apart.

50 seeds per packet, certified organically grown

Hi there. I live in Zone 10 and I have just purchased several seed packs that I can plant now. Wondering if this can be planted here in Sierra Madre California currently? We are getting quite a bit of rain, temps mostly high 60s to 70 during day and not below 48 at night… THANK YOU!

      Hello Francis-Olive,
With temperatures like those, I think the sculpit will come right up. Richo
