Savory, Summer (Satureja hortensis) seeds, organic

$3.95$34.10

Family:  Mint (Lamiaceae)

Annual.  40 days to fresh herb, 100 days to seeds.

Native to the Mediterranean basin.  Easily grown garden annual produces large amounts of small leaves that when dried and removed from the stem make what is probably the most omnigastric spice known to herbalist. Strew seeds on fine seed bed or propagation tray in spring and keep moist. Vigorous and evident germinator within a week or two. Plants prefer full sun, rich soil and regular watering to attain plumpest succulence. Plants flower to about 2 feet, and can be transplanted or thinned to 1 foot apart. The Queen of Culinary herbs, Summer Savory nonetheless likes to hide in closets.  If you haven’t tried this herb, then once you do, it will seem as if embracing an old friend that will now be with you forever.

Hi. In the seed-catalogue, it’s suggested to direct sow summer savory in June, but it is said to be a challenge (well worth it). Is there anything in particular to be aware of, when taking this challenge? Thank you
