(Sea Samphire, Sea Fennel) Perennial halophyte native to the coast of England. This historically significant plant is an aromatic stimulant to the digestion and a culinary delight—the fleshy leaves are gathered in the spring and pickled by covering with hot vinegar. Barely cover seeds with soil and keep evenly moist and somewhat warm (60 to 70 degrees F) until germination, which occurs in 3 to 4 weeks. Space plants 2 feet apart. The plants will grow in regular garden soil, in rocky or poor soils, from clefts in the rock or in briney marshes. Flowers yellow-green.
Open Pollinated. 30 seeds/pkt
