Poppy, California Open Pollinated (Eschscholzia californica) seeds

$3.95$90.00

Family:  Poppy (Papaveraceae)

Hardy to Zones 5 to 9

(California Poppy) Self-seeding herbaceous perennial native to California, Oregon and the southwestern US.  Yellow and orange flowers provide a delightful display in early spring to early summer. Traditional usage (TWM): analgesic.  Plant prefers full sun and nutrient-poor, dry to mesic soils.  Planting California Poppy in rich soils in the greenhouse is unlikely to give results.  The plant does not appreciate coddling!  Best method of growing these is to strew the seed on the surface of disturbed soil, even be it waste land, in the fall to early spring. Very easy to establish. Thinning not necessary, although ideally, 1 foot apart would be nice.

Packet contains 500 seeds
10 g contains ~6,000 seeds

    Hello,

It is a bit confusing to me that these California Poppy seeds are not certified organic, whereas just about every other seed here is, so I was wondering if you could explain why this is.

    Thank you.

hi and thanks for caring, we do carry certified organic california poppy seeds, so those can be chosen instead. we can’t produce as much california poppy seed as we need for mixes and sales so we offer both kinds, and are able to be more generous with the conventional seeds. r
