Onion, Red Savonese (Allium cepa), packet of 200 seeds, organic

$2.95

Family:  Onion (Alliaceae)

Biennial, overwintering in Zone 4-10 (mulch well!).  As a spring planted onion, matures in 90 days.

(Italian Red Onion)  A sweet onion, red on the outside with internal lavender rings.  Excellent for braising, where it develops a lovely syrup, or for fresh use, sliced thinly atop the salad.  Red Savonese reach 3 inches in diameter at full maturity, and they do store well.  They also make a delightful fresh onion, harvested earlier in the season for spring and summer use.  Sow in flats or directly in the garden.  Thin or transplant to 6 inches apart.

200 Seeds/pkt., Certified Organically Grown

I’m not sure. We plant them in the spring and they go to bulb by fall.
