(Italian Red Onion) A sweet onion, red on the outside with internal lavender rings. Excellent for braising, where it develops a lovely syrup, or for fresh use, sliced thinly atop the salad. Red Savonese reach 3 inches in diameter at full maturity, and they do store well. They also make a delightful fresh onion, harvested earlier in the season for spring and summer use. Sow in flats or directly in the garden. Thin or transplant to 6 inches apart.

I’m not sure. We plant them in the spring and they go to bulb by fall.
