Herbaceous perennial to 16 inches tall, flowers blue with a yellow beard, to 16 inches tall.  Native to the Balkan Peninsula of Southeastern Europe. Used historically (TWM) for treatment of headache and as a hot mash applied to boils.  Cured rhizomes used in perfumery.  Plant prefers sunny, well-drained soil of garden or rockery.  Space plants 2 feet apart.
