Fennel, Bulbing (Foeniculum vulgare) seeds, organic

(1 customer review)

$2.95

Family:  Carrot (Apiaceae)

Annual or biennial–90 days to harvest

(Swiss Fennel) Bulbing fennel that is excellent to eat in salads or to dip creamy and herb-laden dressings of your own making. Crisp and juicy white leaf stalks. Personal favorite. Raw foodists rave. Remarkably kind to the digestion.  Sow seeds as soon as the ground can be worked in the spring.  Late frosts do not damage the seedlings.  Seed germinates best in cool soils.  In warmer zones it is possible to sow bulbing fennel in the late summer for a fall harvest.  Space plants 6 inches apart.

Packet contains 100 seeds
5 g contains ~1,350 seeds

What a delight, attracted Eastern Black Swallowtail caterpillars : )

We got plenty of fennel, and so did the Eastern Black Swallowtail Caterpillars. We had 8 or 10 of the caterpillars on our plants and were so delighted to see such a beautiful butterfly being made before our eyes. If you live in Texas, be sure to plant enough for our butterfly friends. They are gorgeous butterflies! (We also had carrots planted which I understand they sometimes eat too, but we didn’t see any caterpillars on the carrot tops.
