Perennial hardy to Zone 7, commonly grown as a frost-resistant annual, 60 days to harvest

(Golden Giant Escarole)  Taprooted perennial with parentage native to Europe and one of the oldest of cultivated crops.  Large 15 inch heads with golden hearts. Excellent in salad, braised, or roasted.

Sow in containers or in open garden, during the months of March through May, and again from July through September.

      Hi Michael, normally once these flower they senesce for good. These will act as an annual or biennial and they do self-seed reliably. I’ve had many-a-good-salad from volunteers of golden giant. r
