Bundle Flower (Desmanthus illinoensis), packet of 100 seeds

Family:  Legume (Fabacea)

Hardy to Zones 4 to 8

(Bundleflower) Herbaceous perennial nitrogen fixer native to the American Midwest. A pretty plant, with feathery leaves and ball-like seedpods formed of curved follicles.  Good choice as a nutritious forage crop, also for prairie restoration/dryland erosion control.  Traditional usage (Native American): maladies of the eyes and skin.  Source of DMT.  Plant prefers full sun and dry to mesic soils and competes well with grasses.  Sow in fall or spring.  Scarify seed vigorously on medium grit sandpaper, barely cover and keep warm and evenly moist until germination.  Inoculation with mycoblast will improve germination and nitrogen fixation.  Thin or transplant to 1 to 2 feet apart.
100 seeds/pkt., Open Pollinated, Untreated, NO GMO’s
