Question
Missy (verified owner) –
I’m in Texas and my seeds come tomorrow (woo hoo!) if I cold stratify for six weeks we may already be seeing a lot of heat. Do you think it would help with the slow germination or just sow and wait patiently? How slow is slow?

Hi Missy, I think you should cold stratify them for a week in moist medium in the fridge and then plant. Planting wiothoiut prechill in the heat is unlikely to give results the first year. We do have nice ones of these as potted plants. Regarding how slow is slow, noncommittal language of this sort is used in order to give a general feel for the germination habit–it is not fair to the buyer to feed false expectations when there are so many variables involved.
