Family: Myrtle (Myrtaceae)
Hardy to Zones 8 to 12
(Red River Gum Tree) Native to Australia, a very common tree there and in other places where it has naturalized, growing best near waterways, a stately and long-lived tree that withstands flood and drought. Bark smooth, cream-colored, patchy. Leaves elongated, ovate, exuding a purifying aroma, source of 1,8-cineol, borneol and camphor. Traditional uses (TWM, aboriginal): cough, expectorant, antiseptic, flea repellant. Excellent bee tree, creating sometimes hollow boles that are used by birds and mammals for housing. The timber is rot-resistant, red when finished, durable, used for fenceposts, lumber, canoes and shields. Potted tree as pictured, certified organically grown

Hello Ashley, Thanks for contacting! If you click on the photograph you get the monograph which always lists the zone designations for perennials and trees. In this case hardy Hardy to Zones 8 to 10. This is a large timber Eucalyptus that soon outgrows the pot. Richo
