(Belladonna scopola, Japanese belladonna) Native to Northern Europe and Asia.  Highly decorative, flowering to about 18 inches tall, bearing dangling, rust-red flowers similar to belladonna giving way to transversely dehiscent capsules remeniscent of henbane.  Traditional usage: (TWM): gastrointestinal spasm, sea sickness. Low-dose botanical. Sow seed in warm soil and tamp securely, then keep evenly moist and warm until germination.  Work up in pots before transplanting to the landscape. Plant 2 feet apart.
