Timo Arbustivo (Thymbra capitata), packet of 20 seeds, Organic
$4.95
Family: Mint (Lamiaceae)
Hardy to Zones 6 to 9
(Headed Savory, Headed Thyme, Syn. Thymus capitatus) Evergreen perennial subshrub to 12 inches, native to the Mediterranean basin. Dry slopes and calcareous soils create no stoppage for this tough little contender. Softly aromatic foliage traditional use (TWM): carminative, flavoring, antioxidant. Large, purple, ball-like clusters of florets feed bees and attract birds and other beneficial wildlife. Flowers continue well after first frost. Excellent in the stew pot (the herb, not the birds!) Space plants 1 to 2 feet apart. Plant prefers full sun, warm limey soil, moderate watering. Sow seed in spring. Press into surface of soil in pot or flat or seed directly in the garden. Thin or transplant to 1 to 2 feet apart.
