Annual.  50 to 60 days to maturity.

(Merlo Nero Spinach, Black Bird) A dark-green, almost black, deeply savoyed Italian cultivar.  Thick, juicy leaves rich in chlorophyll, Vit C, A, E, B6, thiamin, riboflavin, folate, magnesium and potassium. Sow in autumn for a fall/winter crop.   Soil temp must be below 85 degrees F. for efficient germination.  Scatter seed on a prepared seedbed, barely cover and tamp.  Keep cool and moist.  Thin to 3 inches apart, or sow more densely and harvest whole plants.
