Speedwell, European (Veronica beccabunga) packet of 50 seeds

$4.95

Family:  Scrophulariacea/Plantaginacea  (variously ascribed to Figwort or Plantain)

Hardy to Zones 5 to 9

(Brooklime, Water Speedwell, Housewell)  Creeping evergreen perennial native to Europe, Africa and Asia, a plant very similar to Watercress in terms of constituents, medicinal uses, and preference for growing in brooks or at the margin of the pond.  European Speedwell makes waxy leaves with pretty, dark-blue flowers rising to a height of only 4 inches.  Traditional uses (TWM):  Swellings, gout, laxative and most especially, an antiscorbutic (source of Vit C to help disallow onset of scurvy.)  Source of diverse tannins and sulfur compounds. Edible and cleansing to the system, although not as tasty as watercress.  The two may often be found growing together.  Sow seed in warm soil and keep evenly moist.  Germination is rapid–I had good results with this in 7 days under lights.    Space plants 1 foot apart.

50 seeds per packet, Open-pollinated, untreated, NO GMO’s
