$4.95
Family: Poppy (Papaveraceae)
Hardy to Zones 5 to 9
(California Poppy) Self-seeding herbaceous perennial native to California, Oregon and the southwestern US. Yellow and orange flowers provide a delightful display in early spring to early summer. Traditional usage (TWM): analgesic. Plant prefers full sun and nutrient-poor, dry to mesic soils. Planting California Poppy in rich soils in the greenhouse is unlikely to give results. The plant does not appreciate coddling! Best method of growing these is to strew the seed on the surface of disturbed soil, even be it waste land, in the fall to early spring. Very easy to establish. Thinning not necessary.
