Poke, Domestic (Phytolacca americana) potted plant, gallon size, organic
$31.00
Family: Pokeweed (Phytolaccaceae)
Hardy to Zones 4 to 9
(Pokeweed) Herbaceous perennial with thick, reddish stems, large, drooping leaves and plump purple berries. Native to the US, especially the southern states. A handsome weed much appreciated by birds, as the berries occur in large pendant clusters, very fruity. Therefore, one finds a lot of poke growing along fence lines where birds perch. Young shoots are considered to be an edible delicacy. Traditional usage (TWM): lymphatic. Low dose botanical. Plant prefers to grow in full sun and is not particular about soil or water. I know, I know, its absurd to buy a poke plant in a pot, they are very common in the East, but these are especially large and sturdy roots with multiple healthy sprouts and when planted will quickly establish the plant where it was not before. Some people love poke, and need it. Space 6 feet apart.

hi abby, we don’t have too many plans for selling poke plants because they’re so easy from seeds. anyhow definitely an herbaceous perennial in a z 8, i have these all along my driveway and they do exert a rather comely influence. I have to watch I don’t let too many of them go, you could rename it Poke Farm. Some of them get as big as elderberry trees, especially if they have some protection from lodging over. Against a wall they’ll go to 13 feet. richo
