Greetings I ordered Persimmon, Wild Form (Diospyros virginiana), potted tree in a 9-inch-deep pot, organic
$20.00 and in researching growths needs saw listed a requirement to have a male and female trees for fruiting. Is this a male or female and if it’s required do you offer both? Thank you.

Yes, the monograph does list these as dioecious, meaning male and female flowers on separate plants. Seed grown individuals will mature out to male or female–there’s no way to sex them prior to maturity. We generally recommend purchasing 3 to assure sexual differentiation. I see your conundrum and have no ready fix for you except that we do have persimmon seeds left so maybe get some seeds and plant them to help create the diversity you’re after.
