Family: Nightshade (Solanaceae)
Perennial in Zones 10-12, otherwise grown as an annual, 90 to 100 days to harvest
( Pong Sri Thai Pepper ) Thai cultivar bears multitudes of tiny, bird-beak sized peppers on a round bush–very decorative, very hot, good for the windowsill to add color to kitchen, good for the stir-fry, to enhance flavors. A little pepper that goes a long way. What a great companion! These do excellently in pots, and we also grew them out in the garden with good success. Peppers prefer a scanty, even water supply, good drainage, full sun, and a long, hot summer. Start indoors 40 to 50 days prior to the last frost. Thin seedlings to at least 2 inches apart in the flat. Transplant out to garden after the soil has really warmed up. The best compost for Peppers is higher in phosphorous than nitrogen. Kelp is well-tolerated and makes for outrageous yields. These peppers are also very good in pots on a bright windowsill, greenhouse or sunroom–a 3 gallon pot will provide adequate soil to bring a full sized plant to completion.
