Creeping evergreen or herbaceous perennial. Native to Europe, the Mediterranean, and Persia. One of the smallest of the Mints, Pennyroyal nonetheless has the strongest aromatics. Traditional use: Stimulant, flavoring agent, emmenagogue. Not to be used during pregnancy or by small children. External use of dilute essential oil to repel mosquitoes, ticks and fleas. Used in beekeeping to repel varroa and tracheal mites. Plant prefers moist garden soil, the edge of a stream or ditch. Space 6 inches apart. Grows to 1 foot tall.
