Hi. I’m new to your sight – just starting a path to herbalism and I’ve got a seed list “planted” in my cart :)…. I was wondering if the Banana passionflower would do well in a greenhouse. I noticed you said it does fine in a pot, but I live in Iowa at the moment and I’m looking to buy a greenhouse. And how do these taste? I’ve never had the pleasure.

hi debbie, thanks for writing. i’ve been thinking a lot about iowa as i’m writing some stories about my youth in Iowa City. Passiflora mollis fruits are edible, aromatic and delicious both raw and cooked. they make a juice that is widely employed in the tropics, although they do make you dream kinda weird sometimes. you know, one thing to consider is that its not just heat that a lot of these tropicals need, but specific light hours, too. so it can get complicated and expensive with heater and lights in the greenhouse. perhaps better to choose temperate hardy perennials and quick annual fruits like goldenberry. richo
