  1. Question

Is this plant deciduous or evergreen? It was doing fine outside and then I brought it in for the winter and it doesn’t seem happy. It is beginning to drop leaves.

Ololiuqui is a tropical perennial vine that will tend to drop leaves and make basal stem nodes when subjected to the low light of shortening days and cold coming on. Not the kind of thing it gets in the tropics, where the temperature never dips below 55 degrees and every day is 12 hours of light, every night 12 hours of dark. The vine can overwinter in a cold greenhouse in the temperate zone and new leaves will form on those odd basal nodes while new leafy vines tendril out. In the spring, depot and free up the roots and let the increased sunlight and warmth work on it. they are odd, aren’t they?
