Mint, Chinese (Mentha haplocalyx) seeds, organic

$3.95$11.00

Family:  Mint (Lamiaceae)

Hardy to Zones 5 to 9

(Bo-he)  Herbaceous perennial native to China.  Taste pleasant, not overpowering, very clean.  I find this to be similar to peppermint, equally vigorous, always bright green, and. . . I like the taste better.  Traditional use (TCM): One of the Chinese herbs that cools and releases the exterior. Used to treat fever, cough, red eyes and sore throat.  Source of menthol.  Plant prefers sun to part shade and moist soils.  Sow seed in spring or anytime in the warm greenhouse.  Sprinkle seed on surface, tamp securely and keep warm, evenly moist and in the light until germination, which occurs in 1 to 3 weeks.  Individuate plants and grow on in pots for a few months until they are sized up sufficiently to transplant to garden.  Space plants 1 to 2 feet apart.
