Herbaceous perennial native to China. Hardy to 0 degrees F. Excellent, deep-toned flavor remeniscent of spearmint. This is the best new-to-us mint we’ve tasted in years. Considered to be one of the cooling herbs that releases the exterior, used in TCM for treatment of fever, cough, red eyes and sore throat. Plant prefers full sun and moist soil. Good drainage not necessary. Sow seed in spring or anytime in the warm greenhouse. Sprinkle seed on surface, tamp securely and keep warm, evenly moist and in the light until germination, which occurs in 1 to 3 weeks. Individuate plants and grow on in pots for a few months until they are sized up sufficiently to transplant to garden. Space plants 1 foot apart. 50 seeds/pkt certified organically grown.
