The plant has a succulent basal rosette that gives rise to stems adorned with nodding, inflated white flowers that in turn become upright capsules filled with seeds. Heirloom rock garden plant. Edible leaves are commonly used as a potherb in European cuisine. Traditional usage (TWM): emollient, fumigant. Space 1 foot apart. Flowers to 2 feet.
