Lavender, English (Lavandula angustifolia vera) potted plant, organic

$8.50

Family:  Mint (Lamiaceae)

Hardy to Zones 5 to 10

(English Lavender, True Lavender, Lavandula officinalis) Native to Southern Europe, largely cultivated in England and worldwide. Flowers lavender, from 2 to 3 feet tall.  Plants prefer full sun and dry to mesic, well-drained soil.  Commonly grown in open fields or as landscape plants, mellowing the corners and curbs between buildings, driveways, and sidewalks.  They are tough to the sun and should be trimmed back in the fall to prevent large amounts of snow from accumulating on them.  Gardeners in northern climates will want to pot them up and bring them in for the winter.    Space plants 3 to 4 feet apart.

Potted plant, certified organically grown

Hello Iris, English Lavender is the traditional source of oil of lavender. These days many growers are working with hybrids but we don’t put much trust in hybrids. French lavender has a lovely essence as well, and can be made into essential oil. Richo

How big is the size of the plant? For example is it in a 1″ tray, a 1-gallon pot–what are we talking?! Thanks 🙂

Hi Amy, Thanks for contacting! We give no specifics on pot size for the majority of our plants because it is variable. The best answer is “planted in a pot of sufficient size so that the plant is comfortable.” The smallest pot we use is just under 3 inches and most of the woody perennials like a lavender will be in a 5-inch pot deep pot.
