Kale, Lacinato (Brassica oleracea) seeds, organic
$2.45 – $20.10
Family: Brassica (Brassicaceae)
Biennial, winter hardy in Zone 7 to 10
(Lacinato Kale, Dinosaur Kale) This is one of the more nutritious and robust of the kales, working equally well as a tender spring green and also as a sweet fleshed winter vegetable. This is probably the most well-loved kale, with smooth, flat leaves easy to prepare and cook, particularly nice for braising or stir-fry. For the home gardener, easy and yummy. For the market grower, no other kale sells as well.

These mini palm trees make me so happy! A little slower than the other kales and collards to come into their own, or maybe I’m impatient and pick em too early. But my goodness, once they’ve arrived, they’re here for the long haul, and they’re very tasty and easy to grow.
