try digging one up and assessing progress. slow to germinate, they can sit there with a root for some time. breeds confidence to see the beginning phases. seed tested and of highest quality, i’ll be listing plants off of these seeds when they size up. r

Question
Heather –
I live in west central Texas ( San Angelo, Abeline area) we have pretty hot summers but our winters can get nasty around January/February. Would these need to be potted here?

Hi Heather, These are hardy to zone 8 and will be more cold-tolerant if kept in sun in fast draining soil. Short periods of cold may be ok. they are pretty leathery. richo

Plants I have here are showing flowers in year 5. for significant field production, you may have to grow the plants for a decade to get full yield, and they are very long-lived. r

Question
Elize FOURIE –
Is the male and female seeds in packet? do you ship to south africa
Upvote if this was helpful (0) Downvote if this was not helpful (0) Watch Unwatch Flag for removal
Admin Richo Cech –
Hello Elize, Yes, new crop just came in on this, so now would be a good time to get the seeds. Nobody can determine the sex of a seed without DNA testing, which would render it nonfertile. We generally trust to nature to make the seeds about 50% male and 50% female, so a packet should contain both sexes. That is my experience with these. We do ship to South Africa yet we cannot guarantee shipments to South Africa. We can provide tracking but cannot be responsible for the actions of customs in South Africa. Therefore we encourage you to find the seeds locally or if you do purchase from us, keep your fingers crossed, they may or may not make it. Richo
