Native to Europe, North Africa and Asia.  Plant prefers sun and moist, rich soil of garden, meadow or open woodlands.   Source of coumarols.  Oft-employed in early naturapathy, an ingredient in hay flower, used as a poultice, decoction and compress. (TWM): anticoagulant, antispasmodic.  Sow seed in early spring.  Press into surface of soil and keep evenly moist until germination.  Flowers occur in the early summer.  Space plants 6 iches apart.
