Taprooted perennial with parentage native to Europe and one of the oldest of cultivated crops, preferring moist soils and sun to part shade.  Finely curled salad green, pleasantly bitter, with dark green leaves that create a fluffy loft in salads. Sow in containers or in open garden, during the months of March through May, and again from July through September.
