Will this dianthus flower quickly enough to be grown as an annual in zone 9b? Alternatively, will it grow and flower indoors under lights?

Hello yclept, thanks for writing! I am unsure of this. Usually I start Dianthus early in the greenhouse and transplant out for summer flowers. I also tend to get spring flowers in the second year. It might work under lights or it might just suffer. Need quick blue color? Try cornflower, it is similarly frilly. Richo

I have a thing for dianthus and wanted to grow this beauty. It’s not so much about the frills per se as the fact that this is a fascinating member of the family. Thanks for the info.
