Chives, Garlic (Allium tuberosum) potted plant, organic
$8.50
Family: Onion (Alliaceae)
Hardy to Zones 6 to 10
(Chinese Chives, Jiu cai) Herbaceous perennial bulbous, clumping monocot native to China. This plant grows like a chive, tastes like a garlic. Leaves flatter and broader than English chives. Excellent garlic substitute for home use. Chop leaves and add to stir-fry, salad dressing, or sandwich. Cut and come again type of vegetable that always seems to be there just when you need it most (ie when scrambling eggs and there’s nothing green in the house). Used in organic growing to repel insects and burrowing mammals. Plant prefers regular garden soil, full sun to part shade. Space 1 to 2 feet apart.
Potted plant, Certified Organically Grown

Help! Are Garlic Chives and Chinese chives the same as Society Garlic? There seems to be many different versions…

Hello Linda, No, “Society Garlic” is an inodorous Amaryllis, it isn’t even an Allium. For food use, stick with garlic chives (which is the same as chinese chives) or english chives. richo
