(Bonnet Bellflower)  Herbaceous perennial flowering on upright stalks, showy, light-blue, bell-shaped with dark veins to a height of 1 foot.  Native to central Asia to western Himalayas.  Foliage oval, blue-green.  Traditional use:  fresh roots and leaves poulticed against wounds.  Plant prefers sun to part shade and well-drained, average garden soils or rockery.  Flowers occur June to August. Sow on sand in spring or in the warm greenhouse.   Seeds take 1 to 6 weeks to germinate.  Work up in pots for a year before transplanting to garden.  Space 1  foot apart.
