Herbaceous perennial native to the Middle East, flowering violet (young flowers) to light blue (mature flowers) on a bush to 3 feet tall.  Flowers edible, providing nectar to bees spring through fall. Flowering cycle may be prolonged by cutting back the mature plant at the base, whereupon the plant will gather its resources and go for another flowering cycle.  Sow seed in spring.  Prefers full sun and fast draining soils, little fertility.
