Wisteria, Chinese Blue (Wisteria sinensis), packet of 5 seeds
$3.95
Family: Legume (Fabaceae)
Hardy to Zones 5 to 9
(Zi-Teng) Long-lived, deciduous, nitrogen-fixing, climbing vine to 60 feet, native to E. Asia. Highly valued for the aromatic flowers that droop down in large, grapelike clusters. The vine creates pleasant shade and is a very good choice for gazebos, entryways, pergalas, portals, etc. Traditional usage (TCM): antitumor. Plant prefers a sunny exposure and poor soil. Root constriction is relished, and encourages early flowering. Excellent choice for large pots and half barrels. Nick seed, soak overnight and sow warm. Do not eat seeds–they are toxic. Easy and volcanic germinator. Scarify through seedcoat by nicking with sharp blade (do not cut self) or rubbing on sand paper. Plant about 1/2 inch deep in a pot of warm soil. Do not eat the seeds, they are toxic. Grow out in pot for at least a year before transplanting. Trellis.
5 seeds/pkt, Open Pollinated, Untreated, no GMO’s
