Tropical perennial originally native to Africa, now widely introduced to southern climates. Give full sun and compost. Direct seed in the spring. Plants grow quite large–space at least 3 feet apart. Traditional usage (African herbalism): ground up seeds, oil of seeds, or steamed leaves applied externally to alleviate inflammation.

Castor oil can be used as a rodent repelant so i was wondering if plants of this would work also to repel moles voles etc?

Probably–I’ve never had a gopher eat a castor root that I know of. Also Mole Plant AKA Gopher Spurge (available as seeds on this website) is also in the same family and would be recommended for this application. Richo
