Bone Setter (Cissus quadrangularis) potted plant, organic
$11.00
Family (Grape) Vitacea
Hardy to Zones 10 to 12, otherwise grown as an indoor succulent or climbing or hanging patio plant, brought indoors for the winter
(Veldt Grape, Asthisamhari, Hadjod) Evergreen perennial succulent creeper native to East Africa, Bangladesh, India and Sri-lanka. Sectioned stems creep to a distance of 9 to 12 feet, producing grape-like leaves and tendrils, flowering white/green with burgundy highlights, giving way to clusters of red fruits. Traditional use (Ayurveda): Analgesic, healing, poulticed to speed healing of fractured bones. Young shoots edible, stir-fried or in curries.
<<A useful comment by a Vedic person: Widely used in Ayurveda, it’s commonly called Hadjod. Had meaning bones, jod meaning join together. It is also part of the cuisine in South India.>>
Plant prefers sun and fast-draining soil, infrequent watering. Tolerant of both acidic and alkaline conditions. Sometimes planted as a hedge or in hanging baskets.
Potted plant Certified Organically Grown
What we’re guaranteeing here is a potted rooted cutting, not necessarily a large, multi-leaved plant. Transplanted to a gallon pot (or in warmer zones, out to the rock garden), the plant we send you will prosper and expand.
